So the site isn't going as well as I'd like...

Let me reword that....

The site is going great! But this damn script!

So when I was developing my site, I did so at bornwithea.com/site/ so If any random browser or spider came crawling along, they wouldn't hit my site while it was in development by visiting just bornwithea.com. So when I got ready to launch, I told myself, shit, I have to move folders on my server.

I started to bite my nails....

An hour later, I decided best to just make the root a redirection page to the /site/ subdirectory, so that I didn't have to change any folders or links blah blah blah....

I did so sucessfully, launched the site, and watched it crumble to its knees when users started signing up. It's so slow I'm sure I've lost some userbase. Already. Son of a BITCH.

So I called my host yesterday, 1and1, and complained. I told them the issue, that I could surf any site on the web but my own, or any of the OTHER SITES that SHARED my SERVER, even sites that WHERE NOT MINE...

So at any given time over the past two days, any of my domains (I own 14, with 7 functioning) and a handful of other peoples have been down...

The problem continued today...I called again (4 times) and finally told them that I will be shopping for a new host if the issue isn't resolved... 

I did a traceroute and it timed out somewhere in their servers. I sent that to them and they sent it to their "Server Administrators" to fix. They are supposed to be in contact with me when the issue is fixed... I've yet to hear from them....

In the meantime, I've taken down all of the fun stuff from the homepage, like the forum posts, shoutbox, photo gallery, etc, because it seems to have a load on the site as well....

Since I've taken this stuff off I'm able to get to my site, for the most part...

Is anyone else experiencing this? Is it because I'm running free dolphin? 

Been working on this site for about a week now... I've compiled a lot of information over the last 7 days or so, and from what I've learned, I've stepped into Dolphin at a bad time...

I read in a lot of places that 6.1.1 isn't very freindly. Unfortunately, its all I have to work with since I am just starting out and downloaded the latest straight from boonex. But my experience with it has been, for the most part, good. 

I had an idea to start a community based around my sons birth defect, esophageal atresia. did you get that? yeah i had no idea about it either until they took him from us after he was born. in a nutshell he was born without an esophagus....

So the information is limited on the subject, and finding other people online affected by this is a downright  bitch....So start a community....

So upon googling "social network script" I land on boonex, read a little, and think to myself, I can do this...

I wanted to find something to do at home while I take care of my son now that he is out of the hospital. And this seemed the perfect thing for me to pursue, since I am now a walking encyclopedia on E.A. and I have built websites before...

So my first trial run is going....well....good....knock....on....wood....
